I have not written in almost a week now and I regret it. My personal life is getting in the way. Ever an optimist, my spirit is being challenged. When this happens I remember the mother of one of my girlfriend when I was young telling me that what I must have is intestinal fortitude. I can still see her plain as day standing on her porch with me telling me this. I can’t quite remember what brought it up. I can tell you that dating her daughter was quite a challenge and I was smitten with her. I would do anything for her. We lived about twenty miles from each other and I would hitch or take a bus to get to her. I worked a day job and went to night school to impress here. When I hustled up a car which was a Fiat 124 Spyder I would drive to her and sneak into her house at night and pray her father who would have killed me didn’t find out. I think her mother knew what I was doing.
Intestinal Fortitude, I often thought what does that really mean? I think it is the courage to go on when you doubt yourself. Do not give up, follow through, be determined, stay the course, stay on track, finish what you started, move forward when everything is telling you to turn back. Don’t get distracted and focus on the task at hand. Live up to your commitments. Don’t let other people down and be disappointed in you. Most importantly do all this joyfully, be confident even though you will have moments where you feel doubt. Overcome those fears and we all have them, don’t focus on the fear stay optimistic!
The world is full of negativity now, doom and gloom, end times predictions. Realistically hasn’t this been true as long as there have been humans on earth. We know it has been true in our lifetimes and we read history books and know people have endured these fears as long as there has been a way to communicate. The trouble now is we see an endless stream of news constantly from all over the world right on our phones, tablets, computers, tv, wherever we look. We need to get over it and have the fortitude to overcome all of this noise.
So let’s stay focused on the task at hand and save the world for our children. They need us even if they don’t speak to us. Their children need us. We need each other. When we put our minds to it we can save our future. The human race is worth saving. Weather or not you believe in a God, or you believe in some spiritual entity we are connected brothers in arms marching to our futures together. Peace, Love more to come…
This is a wonderful post! I love the positivity. We can all relate with pieces of what you had to say. Thanks for sharing!
